Mascara Saver

I read awhile ago on Pinterest if you put saline solution in mascara then it makes it last longer. Well I decided to try it because my mascara was starting to dry up but makeup is so expensive. So I added a few drops and it really worked! So far I have been using for three additional weeks since when I would have normally thrown it out but it seems like it will last awhile longer!

DIY Mask

I have tried a lot of different DIY face masks in my lifetime. I've mashed up bananas, avocados, strawberries, etc. and have never found any that I thought did anything. I decided to try this one I found on Pinterest a few weeks ago because I have been breaking out a lot lately! This stuff is actually legit. My face feels great and really clean after.

Once you mix it all together it will look like chocolate paste. What I did differently was I left it on for 30 minutes and I also added 2 tsp of each just to make a little more. After a bit it did start to burn a little and if your skin is easily irritated it might not be a great idea.

What it does: reduces uneven skin tones, reduce acne scars, reduce pore size, reduce appearance of wrinkles, and aid in glowing skin. I use it about once a week or even once every two weeks and it works great!

Lake George Weekend

So this past weekend my boyfriend and I took a mini vacation to Lake George, NY. It was pretty cold on Saturday but Sunday was really nice. I absolutely love walking on the beach early in the morning when no one is around. Honestly, I really enjoyed going so late in the season because it was almost deserted!

Autumn

I know some of these are redundant but I love each of these things about Fall and I plan on printing out the pictures and framing them. <3

Orange Rolls

It's September!! So that means Fall is officially here!! I'm so excited for basically everything about Fall. This is my absolute favorite season. Today's post is for some homemade orange rolls to get everyone in the fall spirit!

Ingredients
  1. 1 3/4 cups warm water
  2. 2 Tbsp yeast
  3. 1/3 cup sugar
  4. 2 eggs
  5. 1/2 cup butter (1 stick), melted
  6. 1 tsp salt
  7. 5 cups flour
  8. 1/2 cup butter (1 stick), softened
  9. 1/2 cup sugar
  10. zest of 2 large oranges
For the Glaze
  1. 2 cups confectioner's sugar
  2. 1/2 tsp grated orange zest
  3. 2 Tbsp freshly squeezed orange juice
Instructions
  1. In a small bowl, add water, yeast and sugar. Let rest (proof) for 15 minutes.
  2. In a large mixing bowl fitted with a dough hook, add eggs, butter, salt, flour and yeast mixture.
  3. Knead the dough with your mixer on medium speed for 3 minutes. Cover bowl with a towel and let dough rest for 10 minutes.
  4. Knead dough again for 3 minutes. Let rest for 10 minutes.
  5. Knead dough one more time for three minutes. Let rest again for 10 minutes.
  6. Divide the dough into 3 balls. Lightly flour your counter-top and roll each dough ball out into a 15''x8'' rectangle.
  7. Mix 1/2 cup softened butter with 1/2 cup sugar and the zest of 2 oranges. Spread this mixture evenly over the three rectangles of bread dough.
  8. Roll-up each rectangle lengthwise into a long tube (similar to how you would roll cinnamon rolls). Use a sharp serrated knife to cut the dough into 1 1/2'' sections. Put each small dough round into a greased muffin tin. (You could also lay them in a greased baking dish, like cinnamon rolls, but we always make them in muffin tins!)
  9. Allow dough to rise once more, for 30 minutes.
  10. Bake at 400 degrees F for 10 minutes. Remove from oven and drizzle with glaze.
For the glaze
  1. Whisk powdered sugar, orange zest and orange juice until smooth. Drizzle over warm orange rolls.
