Barbados Diet

I am always saying that I will start my diet on Monday or whatever those cliché diet and exercise myths we say to put off starting right now. I would really like to travel somewhere warm this summer and I'm thinking about Barbados. What I need to do is cut down on my carbs like processed carbs mostly. I've been eating oatmeal or cream of wheat for breakfast and then a salad with chicken or steamed vegetables and chicken for lunch with brown rice. I also want to start taking juicing more seriously and I found these juicing ideas on Pinterest. For dinner, I was thinking about doing vegetable stir fry. I also want to start doing this workout routine because I am getting bored with my old one.

Detox Juice

New Year’s Detoxifying Juice
serves 1
1 1/2-inch nub of ginger
1 large cucumber
2 stalks celery
1 large beet, or two small
1 lemon, peel and pith removed
2 small apples, cored and cut into wedges
1 large handful of parsley
Press all of the ingredients through a juice extractor. Stir and serve immediately

Another type of detox juice that I like is where you just throw in random ingredients. I really like apples, tomatoes, spinach, oranges, cucumbers, and carrots. I just throw in random amounts and then drink it three times a day!

After Thanksgiving Workout

I know it's been a bit after Thanksgiving but I have been working on getting back in shape after all that food! This is the routine that I am currently doing and so far it has been working great! I have also been increasing the exercises each week once I get comfortable so I don't hit a plateau.

My Diet

I have been slacking lately on eating healthy so I am going to try to get back on a clean living schedule but realistically. Here are some breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack ideas that I'll incorporate in a typical day.

Breakfast

1. Oatmeal or cream of wheat w/ a banana and vanilla almond milk
2. Vanilla yogurt w/ fruit (grapes, strawberries, raspberries)
3. Bacon and eggs

Lunch

1. Turkey sandwich w/ mayo or ranch and cucumbers
2. Egg salad sandwich/chicken salad/BLT/Banana and Peanut butter (any type of sandwich really on whole wheat bread) and tomato soup
3. Bruschetta w/ tomatoes, mozzerella, and balsamic glaze
4. Mac & Cheese (my fav)

Dinner:

1. Chicken breast breaded with fiber one cereal (healthier version). You can just you egg to make the glaze.
2. Salads. I essentially just throw anything together (broccoli, cucumbers, tomatoes, cheese, corn, chicken). Whatever we have leftover. Just add some dressing and mix it all together.
3. Shredded chicken, corn, and lettuce in a wrap.
4. Sauteed vegetables w/ olive oil.

Snacks

1. Parfaits
2. Pudding or Jell-O
3. Apples and melted caramels
4. Chocolate protein shake with vanilla almond milk and peanut butter
5. Vanilla yogurt with fruit
6. Carrots and ranch
7. Cucumbers and turkey dipped in ranch
8. Strawberries and chocolate
9. Bananas and graham crackers

Life is short

Time to get back on that eating healthy and working out lifestyle.

Yoga

Ok, I used to do yoga on the weekends and I haven't been in months. I think I need to get back to that because I truly loved it. I need to stop being lazy.

Goals

My new fitness goals: drinking a lot more water (and less coffee), exercise at least 5 days a week, and cutting out excess sugars (no candy and sugary products) but fruit is okay.

New Workout

I am one of those people who need to work out every day. I obviously do not get to and some days I'm just plain lazy but I never feel good the next day when I miss a work out. However, sometimes I get stuck in a workout rut and become bored with my work outs. Here is the new treadmill workout I am starting:

run:
1 minute - 5.0
1 minute - 5.5
1 minute - 6.0
1 minute - 6.5
1 minute - 7.0
1 minute - 7.5
1 minute - 8.0
2 minutes - 4.0
*repeat 5 times
And Minka Kelly as some fitness inspiration since this is her workout that I found on pinterest.
